Happy New Year!!

I just finished today's reading in the Chronological Bible. There is so much info covered in one day....it took us weeks in Adult Bible Fellowship (I feel like a kid calling it Sunday School) to get that far. But amazingly I was struck by some new thoughts. Well, it shouldn't be amazing, God always impresses new things on us from His Word.

These are my thoughts in no particual order-

-Light changes everything!
-God created everything out the chaos. Just like are lives before know Him go from chaos to order
-God created this whole universe for us!! Just like my daughter in law and son who are preparing a nursery. They have in their mind THEIR little creation who will inhabit this room. Everything is done with him in mind. God created the whole universe with US in mind.
-Already in the first days reading we see the first instance of salvation- God covered their nakedness with skins. An animal, an 'it was good' animal, had to die because of their disobedience. Blood had to be shed.

Thanks Jody for creating this group and blog. Day # 2 already has me thinking in ways I never thought before. Great insights on the wall. The point about talking animals (serpent) really had me thinking. You are right - the foreshadowing is apparent (salvation and sacrifice).

What i saw from the scripture was God blessing Adam and Eve with every need, life was easy. All they had to do was to not eat from the tree. But God gave them free will. So the repercussion of disobeying is sin and being out of Gods will. As in our daily lives, we tend to do things our own way and at times (many) its not Gods will, and we have to deal with the decisions we make, which can be very uncomfortable. Genesis shows so much love that God has for us. He gave Adam and Eve everything. He made a beautiful world for every creature to live in accord with man. It must have been an awesome time.

But it will be restored some day in the new heaven and earth. I am struck by how similar the decrition of Eden is to the description of Heaven is in Revelation. Right down to the tree of life with rivers flowing from the center. Interesting....
